We are the Van Wilgenburg family, and have been living in beautiful Koudekerke since August 2023. It has been a journey to end up here.

We, Bart and Simone, originally come from Hilversum. When we were dating, Simone already told Bart, "Later I will live by the sea." Bart agreed. A year or so later, Faas was born, and in the meantime, we were fantasizing a bit about whether it would be fun to start something, something like a B&B or a small boutique hotel. After all, you can't fight your nature, and we were convinced that we could do something like that. Meanwhile, our family became complete with the birth of Luut. Six months later, corona broke out....

When Luut turned one, we said, if we want something, we have to do it NOW, because the children are just getting older and older.Okay, where are we going to look?Zeeland? Belgium? Germany? Austria? Italy?

• Belgium? The coast of Zeeland appealed to us more.
• Austria? Italy? Too far away. (Bart is a twin ;))
• Zeeland? Nice, let's take a look! But it has to be the municipality of Veere, and only one small house is possible there, next to your own main residence.
• Germany? Yes, especially the Harz (low mountain range).

The two paths ran parallel for a long time. Went back and forth to Germany countless times, viewed 8 houses, had a mortgage consultation in German, bought a guesthouse, then decided against it, because the building inspection wasn't good. Meanwhile, heading back towards Zeeland every time; Zoutelande, Domburg, Oostkapelle, Westkapelle.

After a viewing in Germany and a year and a half later, we made the decision. Called a real estate agent and said: we want to sell our house! No sooner said than done. But now what?

Did an open house tour, passing by this beautiful house as well! Although the house felt right, we weren't convinced yet. The house did offer everything in terms of space and potential for the holiday studio. Then we were told about the beach at Dishoek! And man oh man, this is the most beautiful beach in Zeeland.
